EMSC: Right Care
When it Counts

In a two-part ceremony at the state Senate Building on May 18,2011, MIEMSS honored four children and youth from across the State who each had assisted in providing a life-saving service to someone. Their actions had ensured that people had received the “right care when it counts." The annual Stars of Life Awards to honor EMS personnel, citizens, and EMS programs included the EMSC award presentation to Ms Teresa Ann Crisman for her dedication and devotion to the Prince George’s County’s Safe Kids Coalition and the Risk Watch Injury Prevention Program for over a decade. She has provided the leadership and resources to assist EMS providers in educating parents, children, and teachers in protecting children from the highest risk areas of injury. Teresa Ann has recently been a strong voice in Maryland for the ban on the sale of novelty lighters. She has pulled together multiple partners at the State and local levels to educate everyone on the serious dangers that these lighters bring to young children.
