PEPP Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals
is a curriculum developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
for all level of EMS Providers. PEPP focuses on the typical pediatric
911 calls sick and injured infants, children and teens. Information
is presented through slides, videos and scenarios based assessment
and treatment skill stations. Designed to complement PALS the
two can now be offered together with an extended schedule. A national
website has been developed to keep students, coordinators and medical
directors informed about PEPP courses, updates and frequently asked
questions.
The Maryland EMSC program has developed enhanced modules and resource that provide faculty and students with all of the components of the PEPP Curriculum imbedded with Maryland specific protocols and additional pediatric equipment. Maryland Enhanced PEPP Courses have both pediatric medical director on site and experienced pediatric faculty from the major childrens hospitals in the region.
The Maryland PEPP Steering Committee consists of EMSC staff, Regional Medical Directors and PEPP Course Coordinators. It meets with the Maryland state Pediatric Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (PEMAC) and members of the Maryland American Academy of Pediatrics Education and Emergency Medicine committees (AAP COPEM).
