Public Awareness and Prevention

Mission: To contribute to MIEMSS’ vision of eliminating preventable death and disability by providing to the public essential information on how to recognize an emergency and incorporate injury prevention methods in their daily lives.

Public Awareness and Prevention bring together critical elements in making Maryland a safer place to live and play. The dissemination of information is achieved through cooperate efforts with many national, state, and local partners involved in all aspects of injury prevention for all ages. From car seat installation for our smallest citizens to injury prevention information on preventing falls for the elderly, all generations are informed. By designing, developing, and producing educational programs, public service announcements, posters, printed materials, and web sites; many injuries can be prevented and the public will be better prepared to deal with injuries when they occur.
